Watch it. Send it to those you know. The government will more than likely try and clean things up and sweep it under the rug - we cannot let that happen again.

You need to read this: This Is Not Over: Here’s What Gets Me
I only wish I could sum things up as Miss Alli has. I always come off sounding like a cranky redhead ranting.
My problem with Bush — and here, I do indeed address Bush individually, as a guy — is that during the time that the crisis was developing, from Monday to Friday, he never seemed to experience any actual sense of urgency as a result of the simple fact that people were, minute by minute and hour by hour, dying.
Let’s give him the benefit of the doubt that he was being prevented from acting by bureaucracy and the sheer magnitude of the situation. Where are the stories of how he was in his office freaking the fuck out because there were tens of thousands of Americans trapped without food and water? Where’s the story of how he ripped a strip off of somebody, demanding to know what the holy hell the holdup is getting water and food to those people?
…
The state has the primary responsibility, you say? Okay, fine. Then I want to hear how Bush offered the governor whatever she wanted on whatever terms he could legally get it to her, because it made absolutely no difference who got credit. I want to hear how he couldn’t concentrate like the rest of us couldn’t concentrate, because he was so consumed by images on television of old women in wheelchairs slowly dying.
…
I want him to have been consumed with grief and sorrow at the dying that was ongoing, and he wasn’t. I want him to have felt like a profound failure because an entire segment of the population of one of America’s greatest cities was suffering and was at risk of starvin to death, but he didn’t. I want him to have been embarrassed when the FEMA director gave up the information that FEMA knew less about the convention center than CNN, but he wasn’t. I want him not to have smirked his way through the entire experience, and he did.
No matter whose fault the slow relief effort was, the fact of the matter is that these are Americans, and this is their president, and the fact that they were homeless, starving, dying of thirst, and deprived of medication never once seemed to actually bother him.
My thoughts exactly.
Think Progress » KATRINA TIMELINE For those who still think Bush and company are “compassionate conservatives”…
My thoughts go out to all those in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. My heart aches when I read news of the devastation. Please donate to Red Cross. It is yet another chance for our country to come together and help those in need.
And when all is said and done, we’ll have a ton of questions for our current administration. Such as: Why did it take Bush 3 days to get back to work? If the devastation was so terrible that he had to cut his vacation short, why wasn’t he in Washington when they thought it was an even more ruthless category 5 storm? Why is it so tough to get National Guardsmen into New Orleans to help the situation? Why they unable to comprehend that are some people just don’t have the money to fill up their gas tank (if they have a car) and high tail it out of town is beyond me. Oh, I could go on and on with this rant.
On an entirely different note - new designs and products are in the works for all the Lekker Shops. We recently moved and our internet connection was wonky for days. Stay tuned.
So I was searching around ebay today and find this. It’s one of the first shirts I designed last year when Lekker Politics was called Kerry Swag. 69 cents though… Really weird though. I would love to see one on there 10 years from now though. Maybe then it will be worth $6.90.
Eight Things A Credit Card User Should Know
I just watched the Frontline special “The Secret History of the Credit Card” and am cranky as hell. You can watch it online.
Luckily we’re working off on paying all our debt, but it still pisses me off. I mean, if you are able to pay off the balance each month, the benefits can be great - air miles especially. But the thing is, who can really do that? So many of us have had cards since college and are carrying around an average of 8 grand in debt. To get there, you have to do what we did. Close all your accounts and just start paying all you can. But it is really hard. They raise your rates if you stop using your cards. You have to get used to living on cash, which can be tough.
But, as an online retailer, I depend on credit cards to make my living, so maybe I should pipe down.
And if you haven’t seen it yet, you can watch “Is Wal-Mart Good for America”. I am proud to be Wal-Mart free for well over 2 years. If only I could get the Target monkey off my back…
